Marriage

Picture
If you wish to get married at St Joseph’s please contact the Parish Office to make an appointment with one of the priests as early as you can. It is a Diocesan requrement that six months notice is given.
You will need a recently issued Baptismal certificate and certificates from the local Register Office.
The priest will talk to you about the Sacrament of Marriage, guide you through the procedures and help you to get booked on a Marriage Preparation Course.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is absolutely necessary to apply for marriage through your own parish first.
FOR EXAMPLE: if you live in St Joseph's parish but are planning to get married in your home parish, perhaps in Ireland, or even in the parish next door, you are required to obtain the permission from your own Parish Priest. Just because mum or dad still live there, or even if the priest of the place where you wish to marry has agreed, this does not mean that you have the automatic right to marry in that place. Please speak to your parish clergy if in any doubt as to not have the correct permissions in place could invalidate your marriage!
