SUNG LITURGIES
Temporarily Suspended

Music forms an important part of worship at St Joseph's. There are four sung masses every week
  • the Vigil Mass on Saturdays at 6pm (said mass with hymns)
  • the Family Mass on Sundays at 9.30am (led alternate weeks by the Folk Group & Children's Choir)
  • the Sung Mass on Sundays at 11.00am (sung by St Joseph's Choir)
GET INVOLVED
Do you, or does your child, enjoy singing or playing an instrument? There are various opportunities to get involved in the music at St Joseph's, including:
  • St Joseph's Choir - choir of 20 adults and young choristers with a repertoire ranging from ancient plainsong to contemporary mass settings and liturgical music, accompanied by the organ. The Choir sings for the 11am Mass on Sundays with a preparatory rehearsal at 10am.
  • Singing Group - group of adults and young people who play  a variety of instruments and sing for the 9.30am Family Mass on alternate Sundays
  • Little Church - join with the little church leaders to take part musically in the 9.30am Family Mass on alternate Sundays
  • Organ Scholarship - St Joseph's offers an organ scholarship for a person of secondary school age wishing to learn the organ. There is a small stipend and generous support for funded organ lessons
For more information on any of these opportunities, please contact the Director of Music via the Church Office.
THE ORGAN
The organ at St Joseph's was built by organ manufacturer Makin. It is a digital organ consisting of 63 stops over three manuals and one 'floating' division. It has a versatile specification which makes it ideal for accompanying the liturgy and playing a full range of solo organ repertoire.
